The holidays are over and it’s now what I always called “the Dark Time.” Especially living in southern Alaska, where we only get about 7 hours of daylight, the name fits. From now until Spring, I am battling winter blues for all I’m worth! Thankfully, a homesteader’s work is never done and this is the perfect time for certain chores.
My husband and I were raised in rural Southeast Alaska. We dream of buying property on a remote island to homestead and live a more self sustainable life. At the same time, we work to be prepared for the unknown things life can throw at you when you least expect it. Every day is spent working to fulfill our dream and until then, we learn all we can to increase our skills so we will thrive when the land comes!
