Memories of my summers in Naples, Florida at my Grandmother’s house come flooding back every time we eat outside on our new fabric weaved bamboo furniture set. Headed for the garbage, I rescued this bamboo veranda furniture, cleaned it up, and gave it a much needed make over. The set is functional, beautiful, and was simply cheap to fix up. Costing me only $40 I got a one of a kind glass table, four chairs, and enough fabric leftover to make other matching items. Check out how I did it and see that you can too.

- One Acre Vintage Homestead
I started my love of nature, biology, and science in college when I went to school and graduated with a bachelors in marine biology and ecology from Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida. For eight years, I worked as a phycologist growing microalgae for an aquaculture company and then for research in producing algae as a biofuel. My next step in life was becoming a stay at home mama and wife to my amazing family. When we moved to North Carolina, I couldn’t find work in my field so I had to become very creative in money saving techniques. I ended up falling back in love with nature as I became further and further involved in homesteading. If I can save money, reduce my families carbon footprint, and teach my next little generation about nature and being green then all my hard work will be worth it!
