Grape hyacinth aka “muscari” is a hotly debated weed in the gardening forums (if you cant believe that!). Some garden enthusiasts love it’s cheery color, it’s easy reproduction and how, as a weed, it usually dies off before it can choke out more desirable plants. Others hate how easily it takes over and how difficult it is to eradicate. I looked everywhere for a medicinal use or recipe with no luck. So I made my own! Not only was the result delicious, the color is incredible.

I may not be your typical homesteader. My husband is active duty USMC, so we pull up roots (pun intended) every couple of years and tend to live in rented housing. However homesteading is a mindset, not a number of acres. My husband and I do everything we can to live simply, self-sufficiently, and as naturally as possible on 1/3 of an acre in the suburbs. We challenge each other to find new uses for things, to make do or do without, to invent new ways to be self-sufficient. I hope you'll join me on this journey, learn from my experiences and share your own! Homesteading is a community mindset and I look forward to hearing from you. http://www.hillsborough-homesteading.com/
