I love making my own soaps for our family. But I have a confession to make: I consider myself a beginner to the magical world of soap making! Although I’ve been hand making our own soaps for around two years, now, I have not even once ventured out of my little soap rut. I use the same basic recipe because it ALWAYS turns out great, and I ONLY make hot process soaps. I have never ever once made soap using goat milk or another milk for that matter. So although I’ve always wanted to try doing some different things with my soap making, I just haven’t. I have a couple of friends who have even begged me to try making goat milk soap because of how moisturizing it is….but nope. I just wouldn’t go there.
Then, my friend, Kelly Cable, owner of Simple Life Mom, and the author of The Natural Soap Making Book for Beginners, shared her Goat Milk and Honey recipe with me, along with a copy of her new book to review. She encouraged me to give it a try, and if I wanted to go ahead and try using the hot process method, to please let her know what I changed and how it went.
