Hi, I'm Dianne. I live with my husband on 1.5 acres in Charleston, TN. The name of my blog is Hidden Springs Homestead. I grew up on a small homestead of 5 acres, married a city guy and couldn't get away from the farm quick enough! Only to have, after a few years, a deep inside desire to go back to the farm. As I have gotten older and wiser I have realized that homesteading was the best thing ever. My parents and grandparents did know best! We've been married for 25 years and gone through some really hard times. Job losses, health issues and the such. October 2015, we made the decision to get away from being so dependent on the "social norm" and began growing our own food, canning and preserving, and working on becoming more self-sufficient. We have a plan in place to raise goats for milk, chickens for meat and eggs and the such, but other things have to take place first. That's how Hidden Springs Homestead came about was the "other stuff". I realized through my horrible failures and not having deep pockets this was going to be slow journey, but well worth the wait. If I can share my failures or some small tip that will help others to achieve their dream, then we both win and that makes me happy.
