Gardening in Alaska isn’t easy. For one thing, the State is huge. Lay it over the United States and it reaches coast to coast. So we cover a lot of gardening zones. Down in the southeast, our State capital, Juneau, gets an average of 62.24 inches of rain every year. Up on the north coast, Barrow averages a temperature of 37.9 degrees F in the month of August. Good gardening books for cold climates are a must for anyone who wants to garden in Alaska or any cold climate area.
