Did you know that according to FEMA fewer than 50% of Americans have created a family emergency plan in case of natural disaster? Stunning to consider isn’t it? Many of our members at Homestead Bloggers Network have talked about the importance of being prepared for this very reason. It’s so urgent to have a plan in place BEFORE something bad happens.
Watch this video below and ask yourself – do you have a plan in place? Do your kids know what it is?
In the book by Robin Egerton and Angela England, Getting Prepared, there is a recommendation to practice some preparedness drills with your children. Just like you expect schools to practice fire drills, you should have practice sessions with your family also. Make it a fun game with the kids!
Wondering where to start? Here’s a great emergency planning resource to help you start a conversation with the kids and create a plan perfect for your unique family situation. After all – it helps to have a starting place doesn’t it?
Once you have a plan, you need supplies of course. Not just enough first-aid kit supplies for your family in case of an emergency, but the supplies you need to implement whatever plan you create.
