Energy prices are skyrocketing and will probably continue to do so. Summer time is one of those times of the year when our energy bill goes through the roof. We have found a couple of ways to lower our bill through the hottest time of the year. It is definitely a plus for a single mom who is trying to live sustainably even in an apartment.

I am a single mom of two great kids and daughter to one amazing man. This makes up my family that I am dragging along on a journey to a more sustainable life. We have attempted this many times but ever since I became widowed in 2012 I have had to work harder and find more ways to save, become more self sufficient and more sustainable. Currently we are living in an apartment and using two small plots at a community garden to grow our own food. We take advantage of local Farmer's Markets and farms for things we cannot raise or grow ourselves. One of our biggest changes was downsizing to squeeze four people into a two bedroom apartment while I returned to school to become a nurse. My father joined the mix and has become my staunchest supporter and biggest cheer leader. This new life has brought many changes and a whole new outlook on life. Join us as we move through our first four year plan (we are already a year into it at this writing).
