Winter Squash is generally a good producer for many home gardeners and cheap to buy for those who don’t grow it. It’s nutritionally dense, easy to store, and even easier to use in many recipes.
Canning is something I have always wanted to do but never tried. I had heard horror stories of people dying of botulism and the canners exploding pretty much my entire adult life. Nobody in my extended family canned that I’m aware of, and nobody I knew gardened, much less canned.
