With the cold weather coming on many people will be burning wood in their fireplaces to help keep their homes warm. But have you done your fireplace maintenance this year? Cleaning your stovepipe from dangerous and flammable creosote is important fire-safety maintenance step that should be done at least once per year (sometimes more often depending upon the kind of fires you build and the type of wood you burn) We’ve had our chimney cleaned by the professionals in the past of course but way out in our area the price is higher than when we lived in the city. So we decided to save that money this year and attempt to do it ourselves. The good news is – it was EASY! Now I’m comforted that we can enjoy those toasty fires this winter.
